The Outstanding Branch Member Award recognizes a member whose contributions within their Branch are significant and noteworthy. The nomination process is circulated to the Branch Councils for consideration, this award was introduced in 2018.

Long before I obtained my ACIS (and later FCIS) I was in awe of ICSA as the lead organization in corporate governance and administration in Canada. It is truly an honor to be in receipt of the 2019 Outstanding Branch Member Award.
I credit my colleagues on the AB ICSA Board for not only this award but also for my FCIS designation. I started my Chartered Secretaries Qualifying Scheme (CSQS) back in 2011. The Alberta branch members of ICSA not only volunteered to proctor my exams they shared text books and study tips through out the 3.5 years it took for me to complete the designation. They encouraged me to keep pushing when I was ready to quit. Once I finally passed at the exams and obtained my ACIS, my ICSA AB Branch colleagues invited me to sit on the ICSA AB Branch as a director. Despite my 10 years acting as a Assistant Corporate Secretary for my Employer, sitting on the ICSA AB Board taught me so much about good governance and what made an effective boards. After three years it was my colleagues on ICSA AB who encouraged me to apply for my FCIS and have recently volunteered to assist me where needed as I navigate my new role as the treasurer and director of ICSA National.
It is easy to want to do more for the ICSA AB Branch when your proud of what ICSA stands for and you enjoy your colleagues.
