A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between CGI of Canada and the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) makes membership with CGI of Canada more accessible for Associate and Fellow ICSI members, who have been an ICSI member for two years or more.
The MOU stipulates that members of ICSI can progress to membership with CGI of Canada by successfully completing the requirements for the Chartered Secretary designation delivered by the Governance Institute of Canada — the Canadian division of CGI. To gain the Chartered Secretary Professional designation, you are required to complete the following subjects:
The course material is self study and will be accessible through your account once you have enrolled. We recommend 200 hours of study per course. Exams take place in June and November and are conducted online. You will be responsible to ensure you have the required hardware (laptop or computer with Web cam, Mic and Internet connectivity) and software (MS Word).
The first step in the process is to get your ICSI membership verified. The ICSI has enabled an online Endorsement of Member Verification. ICSI Members can access the same through their online account at the ICSI website. The following user manual provides details of the process: https://www.icsi.edu/media/webmodules/UsermanuallCSA.pdf
Once the endorsement process is complete, the ICSI will the ICSI member details to the respective Division (country) of CGI. The Student Support Section of the respective Division will contact the ICSI member directly by email with details on how to register with the Division.
